This is a continuous mix I created in 2009, featuring music (in order of appearance) by Adam Pacione, Vince Guaraldi, Bill Nelson, Tim Buckley, William Basinski, Harold Budd, Eluder, Eluvium, Ennio Morricone, Deerhunter, The Dead Texan, The Boats, Brian Eno, and Seefeel.

Voice samples are taken from Raymond Briggs’s Snowman cartoon, some strange futurism short subject film produced by Ford in the 60s, Sam Peckinpah’s The Ballad of Cable Hogue, Tarkovsky’s Solaris, The Final Programme, Valley of the Dolls, and lectures from Jiddu Krishnamurti I found on YouTube.

I created this mix when I was regularly podcasting a show called The Quiet Sounds, in which I showcased a lot of the ambient and electronic music I liked to thousands of listeners. I was always surprised at the popularity of the podcast, but as my life changed, I devoted less time to it, and eventually stopped.

I created this mix during a time of intense personal change, clipping movie quotes I loved and intertwining them with songs to try to create unexpected emotional moments with sound. I think I succeeded, at least for myself, because I still listen to this regularly, and there are passages that give me chills and make me feel emotional whenever I hear them.

It was very fun to put together, and I find it very rewarding to listen to, and I hope you enjoy it as much I have.
